Abstract

Understanding the natural behaviour of wild rabbits offers an invaluable source of insight for breeders of domestic rabbits. The process of domestication has not fundamentally altered rabbit behaviour and domestic rabbits still retain most of the behavioural patterns of their wild ancestors. This article explores selected aspects of natural rabbit behaviour and explains how this knowledge can help breeders and caretakers create optimal housing and management conditions.
