| Abstract | Between 2000 and 2007 the world milk output increased by about 52 million tones. On this growth participated the main world milk producers but the EU, where milk production is restricted by quotas, did not contribute to the increase. Increased demand inthe world market resulted in a rise in the sale of EU surplus milk products and an increase of milk prices. In comparison to the 2006 average milk prices increased by July 2007 in the USA and New Zealand by about 2 % and 64 % , in West Europe by September 2007 by about 25 % and In the Czech Republic by October 2007 by about 20 %. From July to September 2007 milk prices began to decline In the USA and New Zealand by about 7 and 10 %, and could slightly decrease in the EU also. The increase in milk demandand prices may positively influence milk production in the Czech Republic. |
