| Abstract | The goal of the fermentation experiment with preservation of sugar beet pulp was to ascertain what dose of chemical preservative is necessary to treat sugar beet pulp so that the ensilage produced with it is high-quality and stable. A chemical preservative (containing sodium benzoate and sodium propionate) group 2 quality seal of the German assessment system (DLG) was used for the application; this preservative improves the aerobic stability of ensilages. The preservative was applied in doses of 1, 3 and 6 l/t ensilage. In ensilages without the preservative, as compared to the ensilages with the preservative, the fermentation had more of alcoholic character and took place with higher proteolysis (P >= 0.05). The differences in the results of the fermentation process among ensilages with different preservative doses were insignificant (P |
