| Abstract | The article presents two pioneering AI projects presented at the XX International Silage Conference (ISC 2025) in Florida. A Czech team from NutriVet and the Research Institute of Animal Production used a commercial DJI Mavic 3M drone with a multispectral camera to optimize the timing of corn silage harvest. The system combines NDVI and GNDVI vegetation indices with regression models and can predict maturity development 3-6 days in advance. Canadian researchers from Polytechnique Montréal presented a futuristic comprehensive AI system with voice control, autonomous drone, and computer vision for inspection and management of silage structures. Although AI applications comprised only 1.3% of the conference program, the author considers this low proportion a signal of an approaching technological transformation of the field. For the next ISFC 2026 conference in Lednice, an increase in AI contributions to 10-15% is expected. |
