In the last few years, the field of so-called precision agriculture has been increasingly developing. This issue also concerns pig breeding and the field of pig nutrition in all categories. Animal nutrition is a key factor influencing their health, performance and product quality. Feeding systems are increasingly influenced by external factors, including sustainability requirements, circular economy concepts, fluctuating raw material markets and the needs of long-term food security. Ensuring the health and high performance of animals requires reliable data and nutrition concepts that do not only work with average values. Therefore, precision farming procedures are being developed. The use of sensors and digital data collection allows for higher temporal and biological resolution of animal-related information. Precision feeding procedures, which are based on the precise administration of nutrients according to performance, reduce feeding costs and reduce the excretion of undigested nutrients.
