Testing of bulls at test stations is used in many countries to compare bulls from different herds under standardised environmental conditions. The breeding of breeding bulls of beef cattle breeds is carried out in the Czech Republic in specialised testing centres – breeding bull test stations. Breeding means a defined period in the life of a bull usually from weaning to selection for breeding. During this period it is necessary to create conditions that allow the most objective and comprehensive assessment of the bulls before their inclusion in breeding. During the 120-day testing period the bulls are tested for weight, growth and body measurements. The measured data are recorded in databases which are then used as a basis for predicting breeding values.
