Abstract

Increasing intensification of livestock production, purchases of new genetic material and the movement of livestock cause an increase in the importance of infectious diseases. Along with the neglect of basic safety rules for the import of animals leads a lack of respect to fundamental rules of external and internal Biosecurity and the ostracism of the risk of the introduction of new diseases, which can be easily and quickly spread among animals. Beside the dangerous infectious diseases plays an important role an expansion of „common“ diseases whose progress is often latent or non-specific. This fact is conductive to fatal consequences of dangerous diseases. Major role in protection of livestock against the introduction and spread of diseases plays not only a veterinarian, but all farm employees who must strictly comply the principles of preventive measures. One of the most effective methods to prevent the introduction of disease to the farm or limit the spread of diseases among animals is a preventive program, which can help to reduce the number of microorganisms to a level that is not dangerous to health.
