The article presents an innovative concept of ensiling total mixed rations (TMR) and partial mixed rations (PMR) based on results presented at the XX International Silage Conference in 2025. Studies focused on bacterial diversity using 16S rRNA sequencing revealed that TMR silages support more stable microbial communities dominated by Weissella, Lactiplantibacillus and Carnobacterium genera. Research on associative effects when combining ingredients with different water retention capacities demonstrated dramatic reduction of fermentation losses in TMR silages (1.19%) compared to pure wet distillers grains with solubles (6.26%). Application of Lentilactobacillus buchneri inoculants synergistically enhances aerobic stability and bacterial diversity. The article discusses practical application of the concept under Czech conditions including current research on stabilization of prepared TMR.
