Bronchopneumonia (BRD) in calves is a persistent and significant health problem that adversely affects animal performance and welfare and significantly reduces farm profitability. This study aimed to demonstrate breeding options for increasing animal resistance to BRD. To estimate genomic breeding values (RBV) for this trait, we used 97,416 heifers and 51,407 genomic individuals. Data on diagnoses were provided from the Diary of Diseases and Treatment. The incidence of BRD was 10%, and the heritability of BRD was 2.28%. Genomic breeding values of active bulls ranged from 18 to 194% with reliabilities of 25 to 92%. A positive relationship between the RBV of BRD resistance and the RBV of bulls for fertility was demonstrated.
