Abstract

The genetic and phenotypic trend was calculated for the lean meat content and the average daily gain from birth till end of the field test. Animals born between 1995 to 2003 and belonging to the breeds Duroc, Hampshire, Pietrain, Czech Meat pig and sireline of Large White were analyzed. The lean meat content increased in all breeds approximately by 0.20 to 0.40 % per year. The average daily gain showed a yearly increase from 6 to 15 g per day.
